This course on Abdul Fatah Abu Guddah book Safahat min Ulama was very inspiring for me to keep learning and reviewing even at an old age.

The teaching style of Mufti Ismail Moosa of merging Hadith, fiqh, Tafsir, stories from Sahaba, stories from our elders in various branches of Deen was very interesting and held my attention. My Allah shower his choicest blessings upon the teacher, the students, and all the support staff. Ameen

Jazakumullaahukhair to Ustaad Sahib and the team for arranging this course. There is no better way to study any book than studying it under the guidance of a teacher. This course was not just a book reading. It was a whole package for boosting faith, spiritual development, gaining knowledge and enlightenment. Even though it is online, I felt so connected and engaged that it felt like sitting within the madrassah. Alhumdulillaah.

Bismillah ,

Alhamdulillah as an individual who has no background in Arabic or formal islamic studies, these lessons have been very enlightening and beneficial due to Muftisaheb’s extensive knowledge , method of teaching , expert understanding of hadeeth and everything pertaining to it as well as the scholars and authors , past and present. Its detailed enough for formal islamic studies, scholars and students of deen and in the same breath simple enough for an alm person to understand and benefit from as well, Alhamdulillah.

Part one of this course included so much to learn concerning adab of the student/teacher relationship and the need to seek out knowledge by traveling to increase and perfect one’s knowledge. The short biographies of various narrators brought them to life. Alhamdulillah, the style of writing in this book coupled with Mufti Moosa’s smooth translations made following along in the text easy. As a result my personal ability to read the Arabic text with understanding increased greatly. I do pray that this class will continue so that the entire book will be covered and Insha'Allah be published along with the copious commentary.

This course was highly beneficial and enriching, Alhamdulillah. It was a valuable learning experience.

One of it's distinctive features is the guided translation of the prefaces with the teacher — a section that is seldom explored in detail and can often feel daunting for students to approach on their own due to limited practice. Working through these passages together helped remove that hesitation and made the reading far more approachable.

The discussion on the author’s life was particularly illuminating. Learning about his life, pursuit of knowledge, his discipline, admirable qualities, contributions, and the context and methodology in which he authored works brought the text to life and provided a deeper appreciation for the legacy of scholarship behind it.

Additionally, the experiences and reflections shared by Mufti Sahib during the discussions added an extra layer of insight and motivation. The thoughtful digressions and practical lessons drawn from the text enriched the overall learning experience, added valuable depth and provided meaningful takeaways for students. One from them being a glimpse into the tradition of scholarship.

I highly recommend this course to anyone seeking a guided, insightful, and inspiring study of the text — especially those who wish to benefit from guided translation, practical understanding, and a deeper connection to the scholarly tradition.

May Allah ﷻ reward Mufti Sahib abundantly and continue to benefit students through his guidance.

Firstly, I didnt know the book existed, but when I heard the name of the book I knew it was definitely something I would like to read.
The introduction in itself was so motivating. Especially for myself to read how Sheikh Abdul Fattah Al Ghuddah studied , not at a very young age but a bit later in life after doing business, etc was very motivating and encouraging for me, as I also studied in my late 20's with 3 small kids.. that alone teaches us its never too late to start our journey in ilm...
Furthermore, all the sacrifices Sheikh went through makes us realise how our daily sacrifices for ilm is so trivial compared to the scholars of the past ...
Even the notes are excellent and such a blessing....

Alhamdulillah, this course has been truly enlightening and has brought about many moments of deep self-reflection. The lessons were taught and explained very clearly.

May Allah take Ulūmul Hadith from strength to strength and place immense barakah in this noble effort. May Allah grant Mufti Ismail Moosa a long life filled with ‘āfiyah, barakah, and continued service to the Deen. We ask Allah to allow us to continue benefiting from Mufti Saheb’s knowledge, guidance, and wisdom for many years to come, insha’Allah.
