Ash-Shamāʾil al-Muḥammadiyyah Part 1

As an ‘Ālimah who studied the Dars-e-Niẓāmī, one often assumes that they have grasped much of the knowledge they need .
I thought I understood the value of ḥadīth. But it was only after attending these Durūs of Shamā’il under Mufti Ṣāḥib that I realised how much I was lacking in this regard . Only now did I truly begin to understand the value and depth of the Aḥādīth.These lessons didn’t just inform my mind — they awakened my heart.

Mufti Ṣāḥib’s manner of teaching is unlike anything I’ve experienced before. He doesn’t merely explain the ḥadīth — he brings them to life. Every lesson is filled with deep reverence, clarity, and a love for Rasūlullāh ﷺ that flows through his words and reaches the listener’s soul.

His focus is not just on conveying information, but on nurturing a deep connection with Nabī ﷺ. Through his gentle tone, respectful delivery, and the adab with which he teaches, he reminds us that these are not just texts — they are the words and descriptions of the most beloved being to ever walk this earth.

Before, my love for the Prophet ﷺ was often expressed in words — “I love him”, “I want to visit Madīnah”. But now, it has transformed into a yearning — a heartfelt longing to know him, to see him, to walk where he walked.Now, when I think of Ziyārah, it’s not just a trip — it’s a longing to walk the same streets he walked, to stand where he stood, and to picture him ﷺ in those blessed lands.

These durūs have been life-changing. They have reignited my appreciation for ḥadīth and shifted my understanding of what it truly means to love Rasūlullāh ﷺ.It has revived something in me — not just knowledge, but ma‘rifah, love, and a sense of responsibility to honour and live by these blessed words

To anyone who is seeking to strengthen their connection with Nabī ﷺ, I wholeheartedly encourage you to attend these lessons. It is not just a class — it is a journey of love, knowledge, and nearness to the most beloved of creation ﷺ.

The Shamā'il Course was presented to me and my classmates by our teacher. I wasn't sure what Shamā'il was due to my lack of knowledge, sadly. But I looked it up and I thought to myself, let's challenge yourself Nabeela. I usually sleep quite early. I thought to myself, let's sacrifice something for Allāh and gain beneficial knowledge at the same time. My teacher told me that it'll be beneficial and that I won't regret it. I didn't know how big the blessing was from Allāh. I also don't know what I did to deserve this from Allāh.

Mufti Ismail Moosa and his team are very dedicated. Very helpful. Well organised. Very disciplined. Generous and kind. Just make sure you read everything they send in the group chat, every details, every pdf. all the answers to your questions will be found there. Take time to read.

I keep writing and erasing and rewriting. Trying my best to find the correct existing words to describe what I experienced. But none can reach this level. Anything related to Allāh is just out of this world. You just have to go for it. when the course is done, you'll understand what I meant. I really wish I had the capacity to put these feelings into words. I'm sorry. I cannot. You'll have to experience it. I do not know what I did in my life to deserve this. I keep shaking my head in disbelief. Also, Mufti Ismail Moosa is one of the most humble human being I've come across. For a Mufti, unbelievable. Allāh truly loves you Mufti. He is using you (and your wife, your family and team) to change our lives. He is using you to get us closer to Him and His Dīn. May Allāh grant you even more knowledge, may Allāh keep you healthy in your body, may Allāh forgive your past, present and future sins, may Allāh grant you more opportunities to organise such beautiful, beneficial gatherings. And of course, may Allāh grant you the company of Prophet ﷺ in Jannatul Firdaus (to your family and team too) āmīn.

Alhamdulillāh after having completed the 'ālimiyyah course and having been accepted by Allāh to teach, the opportunity of being a student once again through such courses, is a precious gift and honour. During one's 'ālimiyyah we are often told to make the most of it because we never know when we will get the chance to study قال الله وقال الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم again. So when finding out about these courses, especially because they are shorter and more easily accessible, one relishes in this opportunity alhamdulillāh and may Allāh continue accepting us to learn and teach this dīn of His, āmīn.
For scholars, I find these courses with Muftī Sāhib are very beneficial and informative, much like in one's final years in 'ālimiyyah. They are more detailed and technical, but you gain access to different scholars of the past's insights and understandings of the ahādīth, because of Muftī Sāhib always referencing their works. You also come to know of different shuruhāt and kutub that are so useful to scholars that you perhaps might not have previously known and over and above that, you come to know of the best editions of those kutub for when you are able to acquire them to add to your library.
I would say for someone who hasn't studied higher Islāmic studies, while these courses are most definitely very very beneficial and the barakah of listening to it, that alone is so very worth joining, you may find it to be a bit technical and slightly difficult to understand.. but nevertheless will increase your desire to hopefully undertake the journey of 'ālimiyyah and studying dīn. Besides the intricacies of the explanation of hadīth, the advice that Muftī Sāhib shares, the du'ās Muftī Sāhib makes and teaches us and other general islāmic knowledge that Muftī Sāhib shares with us is something you probably won't find anywhere else if you don't go into the studying of dīn. So it's still definitely an opportunity not to be missed whenever you are able to attend these courses, make your niyyah and know that Allāh is the one who accepts us and inspires us to attend, so accept the invitation and opportunity.

My son said (10 year old) the series was informative, he learned more details about prophet sallalahualaihiwasallam. Best use of my free time ( winter break). New Arabic words learned. Explored what sanad means and how it is applied. “I want to walk like our prophet “

The course was excellent, the detailed description of arabic words used, and of the narrators biographies, and all the scholars opinions was thoroughly informative... the notes are so good ماشاء الله makes life so, so easy for us with so much on our plate الحمدلله الحمدلله الحمدلله

Sitting in the blessed dars of Hadeeth -Shamaail Muhammadiyyah SalaALLAHualayhiwasalam specifially, you will come to find the description of Habeeb SalaALLAHualayhiwasalam to be beyond what you have ever thought of or imagined. The lessons truly captivates you as you try your utmost best to capture the descriptions of our beloved Prophet SalaALLAHualayhiwasalam in your mind whilst Respected Mufti explains to the best of his ability. You don't need to be a graduate in order to sit in certain lessons and the lesson will not end except that you have learnt tremendously. Study as much as you can even if it means canceling all other plans which would not benefit you in the Aakhirah.

This is a class essential for all believers. Whether an academic or a layperson. One lesson and one description is sufficient for Barakah and increase in love of the Prophet ﷺ.

Alhamdulillah I found the lectures very very beneficial, due to Barakah of these lectures I find my heart very light as if a burden is removing from my heart and my chest is expanding.
