This article is extracted from the book of Shaykh Siraj ad-Din (rahimahullah) titled: “Muhadharāt Hawla Mawāqif Sayyidinā Rasul Allāh maʿa al-ʿĀlam.” pages 397-414. In it, he discusses numerous miraculous incidents from the Qur’an and Hadith that are evidence for the prophethood of Muhammad (ṣal Allāhu ʿalaihi wa sallam).

Allāh Taʿālā has given the Prophet (ṣal Allāhu ʿalaihi wa sallam) many miracles. Among these miracles, are those called al-iʿjāz al-khabari, which are detailed revelations about past incidents that occurred, which would have not been known by the Prophet (ṣal Allāhu ʿalaihi wa sallam), had he not received them through revelation. The Prophet (ṣal Allāhu ʿalaihi wa sallam) related all such incidents despite him being illiterate, who would not listen or study under any historian. Rather, they were all revealed to him by Allāh Taʿālā, as He says: {These are some reports from the unseen (events), which We reveal to you. You did not know them before this, neither you nor your people. So, be patient. Surely, the end is in favor of the God-fearing.} [Qur’an 11:49]

This is proof that the Holy Qur’an is truly the speech of Allāh Taʿālā, which has been sent upon the Prophet Muhammad (ṣal Allāhu ʿalaihi wa sallam), and he is a true prophet of Allāh Taʿālā.

Shaykh Abdullah Siraj ad-Din then gives the incident of Maryam (alayhassalam) as an example for the ‘stories of the past which could have not been known to the Prophet (ṣal Allāhu ʿalaihi wa sallam) except through revelation’ from surah Al ‘Imran verses 37-44. In the next nine pages, he explains the meanings of those verses.

Thereafter, he mentions how the Prophet (ṣal Allāhu ʿalaihi wa sallam) has also related the Karamat of some of the Gnostics of the past, such as:

  1. The incident of Maryam (alayhassalam) herself, how she gave birth to ‘Isa (alayhissalam) and dates fell upon her from the date-palm tree.
  2. The incident of the three men from Banu Isra’il who got trapped in a cave, and supplicated to Allah Ta’ala through their righteous deeds.
  3. The incident of the three babies who spoke in their infancy: ‘Isa (alayhissalam), the shepherd’s baby who testified for the innocence of Jurayj, a righteous worshipper from Banu Isra’il, and the baby who made du‘a to not be like the man with luxuries (as he was in reality a tyrant), and instead be like the woman who was being accused of committing adultery and theft (as she was innocent in reality).

Furthermore, Allāh Taʿālā blessed the companions of our Prophet (ṣal Allāhu ʿalaihi wa sallam) with many great blessings, such as:

  • The incident that occurred with Safina, the freed slave of the Prophet (ṣal Allāhu ʿalaihi wa sallam) after he got lost when his ship broke and he lost his path.
  • The incident that occurred with ‘Asim ibn Thabit, when the Mushrikun took him captive and killed him.
  • The incident that occurred with al-‘Ala ibn al-Khadhrami when he walked with his army on the water, when Sayyiduna Abubakr (raḍī Allāhu ʿanh) sent them to fight with the apostates.
